The fact that it was commercializing an already free emulator, combined with a poor selection of games, ultimately lead to an unsuccessful launch week for Sony. However, unlike Nintendo's "Classic Edition" consoles, which run their own in-house developed emulators Kachikachi and Canoe, the PlayStation Classic uses PCSX-ReARMed due to its performance on lower-end devices and open-source license.
